An emergency warning has been issued for a grassfire burning north of Melbourne, with authorities warning residents they’re in peril and it is too late to depart.
The warning to Flowerdale and Yea residents was issued at 4.14pm on Tuesday for an uncontrolled fireplace at Spring Valley Rd travelling north.
“If in case you have not already left, the time to soundly evacuate has now handed. Take shelter indoors instantly. It’s now too harmful to depart,” the warning from the Nation Hearth Authority says.
“The acute warmth is more likely to hurt you properly earlier than the flames attain you”.
Greater than 40 fireplace truck crews and several other plane are combating the fireplace.
