An Australian man has died after he was hit over the top with a chair in an alleged drunken brawl in Bali.

Troy Scott Johnston was discovered unresponsive in a pool of blood by his spouse after the alleged struggle that occurred at Uncle Benz Cafe in South Kuta within the early hours of Thursday morning.

He was taken to hospital however was unable to be saved.

The proprietor of the cafe, Gede Wijaya, has been charged with homicide by Indonesia Nationwide Police.

The pair is believed to have been ingesting collectively on the cafe earlier than allegedly getting right into a struggle.

Mr Wijaya informed police he had no intention to kill Mr Johnston, saying the 40-year-old Australian was “drunk and misplaced management”, native media reported.

Police alleged Mr Johnston grabbed a chair and supposed to throw it on the cafe proprietor, earlier than Mr Wijaya took it from him and hit him over the top.

Mr Wijaya faces 15 years in jail in Indonesia if discovered responsible of homicide.
