The Election Fee of India (ECI) has banned exit polls in Meghalaya from 7 am on Friday to 7 pm on February 27, the day of polling.
Apart from, the ECI declared that no campaigning is allowed from 4 pm on Saturday, Chief Electoral Officer FR Kharkongor mentioned.
The ECI additionally issued an advisory saying that cellphones can’t be taken inside voting compartments of polling cubicles throughout the state.
“As per ECI protocols, exit polls are banned within the state from 7 am on February 24 until 7 pm on February 27. The silence interval for campaigning will start from 4 pm tomorrow (February 25),” Mr Kharkongor instructed PTI.
In accordance with the CEO, of the three,419 polling cubicles of the state, 640 are recognized as ‘weak’, 323 are ‘crucial’ and 84 are each.
As many as 119 corporations of Central Armed Police Drive (CAPF) have been deployed throughout the state forward of the February 27 meeting elections. Votes can be counted on March 2.
A complete of 53 observers – 20 common observers, 21 expenditure observers and 12 police observers – are on the job to make sure that the elections are free, honest and peaceable, the CEO mentioned.
Over 21 lakh individuals can be eligible to elect their representatives from 369 candidates together with 36 girls.
