Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Conor McGregor has hinted at a move to the WWE as a series of social media posts from his sides has sent fans into a tizzy.
Conor McGregor, who claimed he retired from UFC in April 2020, called out WWE CEO Vince McMahon in one of his Instagram story posts. McGregor shared a post from his company ‘The Mac Life’ and captioned it: “McMahon Vs McGregor CEO Flashmatch”.
Notably, his company had posted a photo of McGregor holding both a UFC belt and a WWE belt.
Notably, McGregor had told the ESPN that he is ‘bit bored’ and ‘just not excited’ about UFC after posting that he decided to ‘retire from fighting’ in June.
This is not the first time McGregor is linked to WWE as he was rumored to appear in WrestleMania in 2017 and then in 2019.
McGregor also hinted at switching to WWE after the WrestleMania 35 main event featuring Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey.
“Congrats to Irelands [sic] Becky Lynch, the WWE’s first Champ Champ. Wow! What a match these ladies put on! Ronda Rousey is something special in that ring, as is Charlotte Flair of the Flair dynasty! Stephanie McMahon, you are right, I could not do what these athletes do. Or could I?” McGregor had written on social media.
Notably, former UFC star Ronda Rousey and Cain Velasquez made their way to WWE after celebrated MMA careers.
McGregor, who has announced retirement, hasn’t entered the ring since January 2020 wherein he defeated Donal Cerrone in the ring in just 40 seconds. The fight came after his 2-year absence from the ring before which he lost to Russia’s Kabir Nurmagomedov.
